Adult Education and Training

In the context of continuous socio-economic evolution, lifelong learning is a vital necessity for all citizens. Luxembourg therefore aims at making adult education and training accessible to all, regardless of age, level of qualification or labour market situation.

Adult education provision is designed for all citizens to obtain qualifications, change profession and connect with new technologies, develop language skills or enrich their general knowledge.

As described in article 8.4 Main Types of Provision, the main target groups of adult education provision are:

• Persons needing to raise their achievement in basic skills
• Persons wishing to obtain a basic qualification or a diploma of secondary education through distance learning or via the second qualification pathway (2e voie de qualification), or a higher education diploma
• Job seekers wishing to improve their employability
• All adults wishing to enrich their knowledge on technical, social, economic and cultural subjects or to improve their language skills – be it for professional, private or integration reasons
• Persons wishing to complete or adapt their qualifications in order to remain in employment, or who want to increase their competitiveness or change their profession (continuous professional development [CPD]; continuous vocational education and training [CVET]).
