Erasmus Mundus Master Courses Seminar 2006: developing a common identity
A comprehensive insight in the management of the Erasmus Mundus Master Courses to achieve the best implementation, best performance and the best students support
Brussels, Hotel Bedford, 30th November - 1st December 2006
Keeping the annual tradition alive ALL EM Master Courses Consortia convened this year to review and exchange views on the functioning of the consortia, the management and implementation of the EM Master Courses, the student's selection and the cooperation with third country institutions. This edition organised by the Executive Agency integrated a new networking dimension to provide all Master Courses the opportunity to exchange good practice and expertise in the way they have been running their Consortia, the EM disciplines and about the geographic areas they are dealing with.
The programme was divided in two days in which plenary, workshops and informative sessions as well as bilateral meetings were combined to facilitate discussion and maximise the exchange between the Erasmus Mundus family (Master Courses representatives, National Structures and the European Commission (DG EAC and the Executive Agency))
In day one, 30th November, sharing experience on common management concerns was the thrust. This included practice on implementing high quality standards and course excellence, the integration aspect of awarding multiple, double, joint degree and diploma supplement, as well as tackling issues related to Visas and how to sustain our Master Courses (tuitions fees).
On day two, 1st December, networking in clusters to share practice on academic disciplines, on third country institutional cooperation and on student mobility were the main pillars. The plenary sessions and workshops were focused on aspects linked to Erasmus Mundus Action 2 'student mobility' and Action 3 'cooperation with third country institutions', how to increase involvement of the European students in the Master Courses and the functioning of the EM Windows.
