Applications for the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) and Diploma Supplement (DS) labels 2009-2013

Background

The Commission (DG Education and Culture) has decided to resume the award of the ECTS and DS labels.
Applications for the ECTS and DS labels can be submitted by a Higher Education Institution that has been awarded a Standard or an Extended Erasmus University Charter (Standard Charter and Student placements).

Eligible Higher Education Institutions shall submit their application(s) to the Erasmus National Agency of the country where it is located.  After a screening with the assistance of independent experts, all successful applications will be transmitted from the National Agencies to the Executive Agency where an ECTS / DS jury of experts will examine the applications in order to guarantee consistency of evaluation results on a European level. The Executive Agency in consultation with the Commission will then take the final decision about the award of the labels.

The ECTS and DS labels will be honorary distinctions. Higher Education Institutions who held the ECTS and/or DS labels in the past are invited to apply again, given that these labels will expire in 2009.

Application Package

The application forms for the ECTS and DS labels can be obtained from the Erasmus National Agency of the country where the applicant institution is located and the deadline for the submission of applications is 15 January 2009. It is expected that the results will be available in May 2009.
