TESE - The thesaurus for education systems in Europe - 2009 edition

The thesaurus for education systems in Europe (TESE – 2009 edition) is a multilingual controlled vocabulary – a carefully selected list of words called descriptors – on education systems in Europe. It is designed by the Eurydice network as an indexing tool for all European providers of education information. This second edition of the TESE is the result of the cooperation between education and information specialists and takes the latest developments on education systems and policies into account.

The 2009 edition of TESE is available in 15 language versions: Czech, Dutch, English, Estonian, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Italian, Lithuanian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Spanish and Turkish.

You can download TESE for free in xml, pdf and csv format and in three different displays (alphabetical, systematic and rotated). You can also download the preface, the introduction, statistical data, acknowledgments and a list of 2009 descriptor changes in all available languages.

The second edition is based on the 2006 edition. Some descriptors of the first edition are imported from the old European Education Thesaurus (EET) as you can see in the lists below:

You can download TESE for free and use it for your indexation needs, provided that the source is acknowledged (reference to TESE and Eurydice) and that it is not used for commercial purposes.
